Fjallafélagið
Our story
Fálkaklettur Via Ferrata is built and operated by Fjallafélagið – The Icelandic Mountain Company. Founded in 2010, Fjallafélagið began its journey by organizing guided climbs on Hvannadalshnjúkur, Iceland’s highest peak. Since then, the company has grown and flourished, leading hundreds of hiking and climbing adventures both in Iceland and around the world. Among our international destinations are Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Japan, the Tour du Mont Blanc, and the Dolomites, to name a few. Our vision has always centered on safety, challenge, and unforgettable experiences.

From Alpine Adventures to Icelandic Heights – Fálkaklettur was born
Over the years, via ferrata climbing became a favorite highlight of many Fjallafélagið tours abroad. Inspired by those experiences, the idea emerged to create a via ferrata in Iceland — a place where locals and visitors could feel the same excitement close to Reykjavík. That vision became Fálkaklettur, a unique via ferrata route on Mt. Esja, offering breathtaking views over the ocean and Reykjavík city.
We love the outdoors!
This is what people are saying
“Adventure and beautiful views.”
I highly recommend the Fálkaklettur Via Ferrata near Reykjavik if you and your family like climbing, adventure and beautiful views. I easily booked the standard climb (about 2.5 – 3 hrs) online for me and my 18 yr old twin daughters.
